Transgender Health Care At Valley Medical Clinic
At Valley Medical Clinic, we aim to help every member of our community with their health care needs. As such, we offer all-encompassing transgender health care services. We have seen how some health care providers turn away many clients due to their lifestyle. At Valley Medical Clinic, we proudly help every member and patient without discriminating against their lifestyles.
The Transgender Health Care Services We Provide
Valley Medical Clinic offers the same treatment and assistance as any other patient that walks in our doors. We host a non-discriminatory medical practice to better serve the El Paso community and those around us. Some may worry about revealing their gender identity regardless of the purpose of the visit. In regards to the LGBTQ community, we provide a welcoming environment where you don’t have to feel worried, ashamed, or embarrassed in any way. To better serve you, we specialize in the following that most practitioners do not for our transgender community.
We offer the following transgender health care services:
- Physicals: If you would like to request particular doctors to provide physicals, please inform our staff so we can do so for your comfort.
- Hormone Therapy: No matter what transition you plan on making, we can provide a detailed program and treatment to assist you during this time.
- STD Testing: We provide standard STD testing for all of our patients. Click here to learn more.
- Preventive Care: We will also assist with any other health issues, check-ups, and vaccines.
How to Get Started
Because we understand how difficult it is to find a healthcare professional who will safely help you through your medical needs, we’re here to take care of you. To get started in any of our programs, give our clinic a call to set up an appointment. We will set up a screening appointment to properly understand what you’re currently facing as well as any other medical conditions you may already have. If you’re looking to undergo gender transition, we will run tests to ensure that it will be a beneficial and healthy transition.
Please bring in a copy of all previous medical records and healthcare providers that you have seen recently. Also, understand that the more open you are, the better we can assist and address any underlying health issues that may or may not occur.
Finding Out if You Are Eligible For Coverage
Finding a health insurance provider to cover the needs of a transgender person can be difficult. The best place to start is to look into the health insurance you currently have and look for what they do not cover. Many times health insurance will word things to avoid covering transitioning gender. The unfortunate truth is that many health insurances will not assist transgender patients, especially if their gender has changed since singing with their insurance policy. Look over your plan and see what it states about trans related care. You then need to find out if you have a self-funded plan, or if you are fully insured. Once you have this information, you can then apply to get your procedure pre-approved through your insurance.
Your health insurance can not limit preventive services like shots, check-ups, or screenings based on the sex that you were assigned at birth. If your doctor determines that a preventive service is medically appropriate and needed for you and meets the criteria for coverage, your plan must cover the service.
